Norine
Peyton (owner/instructor): created Imagination Station, with her
move to Red Hook 6 years ago, realizing there was a need in the
community for children to explore their creativity in the visual
arts. Born in Hawaii and raised in Tokyo attending The International
School of The Sacred Heart, she was exposed to the rich culture
of Japan, where she developed her early aesthetic interests/sensibilities.
With a BA from Cal, Berkeley, Norine also studied at Barnard College
(Columbia U) and Boston College, taking classes in studio art,
art history, anthropology, social-cultural studies, film/literature
etc. IS has been the perfect place for her to merge her liberal
arts education with her love of art and children.

Dona Eichin (assistant instructor): has been affiliated with Imagination Station
for 5 years and has a deep appreciation for aesthetics, creative expression
and children. As an assistant, she worked at Funshine Nursery School in Red
Hook for a few years, interacting closely with the staff, students and their
parents. Dona is instrumental at The Station for teaching the children what
they need for interacting socially with others, as they learn about respect,
responsibility and effort.
Philosophy: At
Imagination Station we strive to create an optimal uplifting environment
for our students to bring out the spirit of
the artist within. Exposing our children to aesthetics, art history,
world culture and a wide spectrum of mediums, we also encourage the
importance of self-expression. Our classes aim at experimentation,
tapping one’s imagination, and fully enjoying the artistic
experience. Children benefit at IS in developing their own style,
learning new skills and building self-confidence with the rewards
of seeing all the results of their creative endeavors.
