NEW CLASSES:
| Summer Art Camp | Creativity Lab |
Imagination Station “Imagination Station is a studio for children to discover their artist’s spirits within and learn to bravely express it as their own language.” Join us for some summer fun of world crafts and art. Our classes are small and intimate, located in a beautiful uplifting bright studio at The Chocolate Factory. This is our 9th year in Red Hook, conducting sessions that bring children ages 4-12 together for inspiration, creativity and new bonding friendships. A hands-on approach to introducing the budding artiste to a variety of mediums, the classes are informal and lively. The students are encouraged to develop their imaginations, creativity and artistic abilities, in addition to learning about their resourcefulness, independence, confidence and social skills, Some of the project this summer for our Art Camp will include: Japanese paper dying, pottery pots of imagination, silk painting, printed bound booklets, Mexican ceramic tile making, funky tie-die t shirts, Native American matt/basket weaving, paper mache glowing creatures, Pop Art plaster sculptures, shell/ ceramic wind chimes and more! Instructor Norine Peyton, holds a BA from UC Berkeley in Liberal Arts and has attended Barnard College (Art History), with extensive experience in working with children in Japan, Hawaii, California, Boston and New York. Born in Hawaii and raised in Tokyo, her approach is unique and personal: focusing on world culture and arts, art history and contemporary art. Imagination Station is a studio in Red Hook for children to discover their artists spirits within and learn to bravely express it as their own language. "The quality of the shows from year to year keeps stepping up to a very professional presentation. I have to remind myself that it's children's work, A lot of this would not have seemed out of place in a gallery or small art museum," "Norine makes it such a seamless, simple, natural process for the students," "Norine is a great resource in our community, and she's an art treasure herself."
