Children’s Summer Art Camp 2019

Kids (ages 4-12) can join us in July and/or August for some creativity and fun! Norine will be back for Art Camp and looks forward to seeing everyone!

July:  SUMMER ART STUDIO
Week #1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (Dates: July 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29)
Students will follow activities planned for the day. The mediums will be varied and in general, there are about 2-3 projects per 3 hr session. Children learn about various techniques as they follow the step-by-step applications and add their own style/artistic touches to the pieces. Drawing, pastel, collage, silk painting, large-scale painting, clay, puppets, crafts and outdoor activities/games.

August: SUMMER ART STUDIO
Week #1, 2, 3, 4 (Dates: Aug 5, 12, 19 & 26)

Sessions:

  • Half Day: 9am-12noon OR 2-5pm
  • Full Day: 9am-5pm
    ***we also can accommodate different times for student’s schedule if requested.

Tuition:

  • 1 Week (½ Day): $200
  • 2 Weeks (½ Day): $350
  • 1 Week (Full Day): $350

Student Art Classes (Fall 2019)

Our Student Art Classes — from PreK through High School — offer hands-on experience that allow students to experiment with a wide-range of mediums including drawing, painting, 3D construction/sculpture, clay, craft projects and more.  Art history from the ancient to the modern is also introduced; world culture is another source of inspiration with our lively year-round curriculum. We hope your children will join us for creative exploration and self-expression!

Grace painting

Class Schedules:

  •  PreK (level 1) — TBA
  •  Kindergarteners & 1st Graders (level 2/3) — Wednesdays, 3:30 – 5:30pm
  •  1st, 2nd & 3rd Graders (level 3/4) — Fridays, 3:30 – 5:30pm
  •  3rd – 5th Graders (level 5/6 Boys) — Mondays, 3:30 – 5:30pm
  •  3rd – 5th Graders (level 5/6 Girls) — Thursdays, 3:30 – 5:30pm
  •  Middle & High Schoolers (level 7-10) — Tuesdays, 2:30/3:00 – 5:00pm

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Classes for 2019-2020 school year begin the week of September 9th, 2019 (though you can sign up at any time of year if there’s space!)
  • Class fees are $25 per class with an additional $25 for art materials & snacks every month.
  • If your schedule conflicts with the above let us know and we will try to work out a solution.
  • We generally follow the Mill Road Elementary School Calendar for holidays; any changes in scheduling TBA.
  • We can only secure your child’s place in the class once we receive this fill-out form and the $50 deposit.

Teen & Adult Painting Classes (Sun Mornings, Ongoing)

Love to paint, always wanted to learn, or just want to unwind on the weekend?

IS offers a comprehensive class in painting for teens and adults of all levels. Sessions are geared toward individualized instruction in a professional studio setting. Still life, landscape, portraiture and a variety of subjects as animals, architecture, etc. will be covered in depth.   Students will learn about rendering subjects in realistic detail, along with concepts about light, perspective, color theory, glazing and more.   We encourage artwork created from settings and on location views.  

Learn the techniques and approaches to make incredible paintings that are rich in color and be amazed at how quickly you can advance in these small, intimate classes in our comfortable, bright studio with excellent instruction from Aurora Abzug, who has extensive experience in teaching and is enthusiastic about sharing her enthusiasm for painting.

WHEN: Sunday Mornings 9:45am-11:45am (students may attend any 4 classes per month)

Oils or Acrylics

Saturday Cartooning Workshops with COJO

Join “C.I.A.” (Cartooning I-station Agents), a fun-filled class with an amazing energetic artist COJO, who inspires all his students. The Workshop falls on on Saturday each month, TBA, covering a specific topic and students relish this time to enjoy learning from an experienced commercial artist who began working at Marvel Comics from his teens!

With instructor COJO: A graduate of SVA (School of Visual Arts, NYC), commercial artist, illustrator (lead illustrator at Maxim Magazine for 4 years), graphic designer, painter for clients as Marvel Comics (colorist at age 16), MTV, Nickelodeon, The Village Voice, Rolling Stone, Vibe; Nike, AT&T and WWE. His artwork has been printed in 16 countries and translated into 15 languages. He first rose to notoriety in the early 2000s for his signature style predominantly in the print and fashion world.
